Prepare Fatayer Dough and set aside to rise. While dough is rising, mix all filling ingredients in a medium bowl. Set aside until dough is ready. Then proceed with directions for shaping and baking pies.

Variation: Use filling ingredients above, substituting 1/2 cup sesame tahini paste or labany (yogurt cheese) for the tomato and pomegranate syrup.

  • 1 lb: Pound Lean Ground Beef or Lamb
  • 1/2 c chopped Parsley
  • 1/2 c finely diced Onion
  • 1/4 c Pine Nuts or Slivered Almonds, toasted
  • 1/4 c plain bread crumbs
  • 1 MediumĀ Tomato, diced
  • 1 tbsp Pomegranate syrup*
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 1/2 tsp Middle Eastern Blend
